A MAYHILL woman who assaulted her partner twice on the same night has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Shannon Hurley bit her partner on the cheek at a party in a house in Gors Avenue on the night of April 30 — then bit him again on the lip when they got home, leaving him needing a Hepatitis B jab and 14 stitches in an "extensive and deep wound".
Hurley, aged 21, of Long Ridge, Mayhill, had previously pleaded guilty to common assault and to inflicting actual bodily harm when she appeared at Swansea Crown Court.
The court heard the pair had rowed earlier in the day and then at the party the victim had sent a text message to Hurley which caused her to "lunge" at him and bite him on the cheek.
The pair left the party and went their separate ways, but later that night violence flared again when the pair met-up at Hurley's home - she tried to head-butt her partner but he restrained her, and she subsequently bit him on the lower lip.
The court heard Hurley was of previous clean character.
Jon Tarrant, for Hurley, said it had been a "tempestuous evening" at the party for his client, and that "certain remarks and requests" had been directed at her.
He added: "Emotions were running very high."
Hurley was sentenced to eight weeks in prison for the common assault and eight months for the actual bodily harm, both sentences to run concurrently and both suspended for two years. She was also ordered to pay £250 compensation to the victim, and to complete 80 hours of unpaid work, and a rehabilitation course.
