A MAN pulled a knife on police he had called to his aid because he believed there was someone in his garden.
Two officers went to the home of Anthony Shannon in Regents Street East in Briton Ferry shortly after 2am on June 17, after he had telephoned them for assistance.
But Swansea Crown Court was told that when they arrived, officers spotted him moving the curtains and 'that his eyes were wide, and his movement was very quick'.

Prosecuting, Brian Simpson said officers asked to be let into the property, and when he eventually allowed them, he appeared nervous, and they spotted a kitchen knife protruding from his back pocket.
When they told him to drop the knife, he instead raised it above his head, prompting officers to threaten the 27-year-old with a taser unless he complied. In response, 'he smiled, and threw it on the floor'.
A subsequent search revealed he also had a screwdriver and another knife, as well as class C drug subutex.
Mitigating, Andrew Evans said: "His partner was taken unwell on the Wednesday before this incident, and she passed away while he was in police custody.
"He had consumed a cocktail of substances, leading to his paranoid state, which lead to the belief someone was in his back garden".

Sentencing him for affray and possession of a controlled drug, Judge Peter Heywood said: "The officers who had responded to his call formed the view that you were intoxicated, which you clearly were, and noticed you had a knife in your back pocket.
"You held it above your head in a threatening manner.
"This is an extremely serious offence that you threatened police officers who were going to your assistance as a result of your phone call.
"But I have heard your personal circumstances and tragedy that you had to endure leading up to this".
Shannon was sentenced to eight months imprisonment.
