Police cordoned off an area of Sussex Street following an "altercation" which happened at just after 3.30am

A man taken to hospital after a “serious assault” in Rhyl in the early hours of this morning is in a “stable” condition.
Police cordoned off an area of Sussex Street just after an “altercation” at around 3.30am today.
Pictures emerged on Facebook of three police vehicles, including the scientific support unit, parked on the pavement nearby.
Blue tape was put up around the Jean Emporium and Piazza Restaurant and three yellow markers were placed on the ground while forensic examinations were carried out.
The extent of the man’s injuries are not yet known but his condition has been described as “stable but not life-threatening.”

North Wales Police spokeswoman said: “Shortly after 3.30am, North Wales Police were informed of an altercation on Sussex Street in Rhyl whereby a man had been seriously assaulted.
“Officers attended the scene and the man was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
“His condition is currently described as stable and non-life threatening.
“The scene was cordoned whilst forensic examinations took place however the scene has since been released but police enquiries are ongoing.”
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called shortly before 3.45am to reports of an assault on Sussex Street in Rhyl.
“An emergency ambulance attended the scene and a man was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.”
The Jean Emporium Schoolwear shop was closed for most of the day while investigations were carried out.
They wrote on Facebook: “Dear customers, thank you for your concern. We are all ok thank you.

Appeal

“There has been an incident during the night completely unrelated to Jean Emporium, and therefore NWP have cordoned off the area to do their investigations.
“We are sorry for the inconvenience.
“Hope to be open soon but as you can understand, we have to wait for the go ahead from NWP.”
The store was able to reopen at around 2.45pm.
Officers are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the incident, or anybody who may have information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number U111687.
