Anglesey,North Wales - Mess left at Anglesey industrial estate used by travellers 'a disgrace', say residents

Easy to blame the travellers, as this justifies the argument against proposed nearby camps, however many places without travellers have the same if not more litter around the Island than this!

This is the disgusting mess left at an industrial estate where travellers stayed last week.
Rubbish including soiled nappies was seen strewn across Mona industrial estate in Anglesey after the group moved on.
The empty site has been used as a short-term solution by Anglesey council as they try to establish a stopping place for gypsies and travellers on the island.
Officers from the council were at the site on Friday and Monday to clean up the mess and say they have provided “guidance” to travellers.
Rachel Wigley, who took the picture, said: “This is what us taxpayers are paying to have cleaned up.”
A nearby resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “The way it was left was a disgrace. There was almost no effort to clean up.
“Council staff came over on Monday to clean it up but it was like that all weekend.”
An Anglesey council spokesperson said: “Council officers met with gypsy travellers occupying land at Mona and provided them with guidance in respect of industrial waste, such as hedge trimmings.
“Whilst it is regrettable that some industrial waste was again left on site, the area where caravans were situated was free of rubbish.
Our officers visited the site shortly after the travellers had left on Friday and they had used the bins provided.
“Our main priority is to be in a position to provide an approved temporary stopping place for gypsy travellers who visit the island.
“The council’s executive will deliberate a report on possible sites for temporary stopping places later this month and will be asked to agree a site on Anglesey.
“If executive members agree on a site, this will then allow us to include it in the Anglesey and Gwynedd Joint Local Development Plan and move on to the site design, planning and development stage.”
The authority is legally obliged to assess and meet the accommodation needs of the gypsy and traveller communities.
Proposals are already in place for a permanent site at Penhesgyn near Menai Bridge, which would house the people currently living on an illegal but “tolerated” site in a lay-by on the A5025 near Pentraeth.
