A school supply teacher died after taking heroin and cocaine overdose an inquest heard.
David Joseph Lewis, 51, of Morfa Lodge estate, Porthmadog had spent part of February 15 this year drinking in a pub in the town.
North Wales senior coroner Dewi Pritchard Jones said during the late afternoon he was seen outside the pub looking unwell and was taken home.
The hearing at Caernarfon heard he was put to bed by members of his family.
When they checked later there was no sign of life and paramedics were called who confirmed he had died.
Dr Mark Lord said a post mortem examination revealed no signs of injury.
Samples of blood and urine were sent for analysis and revealed high levels of alcohol - nearly three times the drink drive limit.
Tests also showed toxic and potentially fatal levels of morphine of a type associated with heroin and cocaine.
Asked by the coroner if the levels were at fatal levels the doctor said the morphine was above fatal levels.
He said the level of cocaine could not be determined as it breaks down quickly in the body.
Abuse Of Drugs
Concluding the inquest the coroner said: “It was initially though Mr Lewis had just drunk too much during the day and I had expected the post mortem to reflect this.
“But tests show that it was the heroin and cocaine caused his death and the result is that he died as a result of taking an overdose of heroin and cocaine.”
He recorded a verdict of death due to the abuse of drugs.
