MORE than 30 people have been arrested in a series of police swoops across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
Those detained were picked-up on suspicion of committing a range of offences from theft to burglary and assault. A number of properties were also searched.
The arrests are the latest outing of Operation Barracuda, an on-going operation bringing together neighbourhood officers and specialist units from across the force's western division.
South Wales Police sergeant Emma Fox, who co-ordinated the operation, said a total of 32 people had been arrested.
She said: "This operation was about targeting individuals wanted for various crimes and disrupting the activities of those involved in crime.
"Tackling crime and arresting suspects is very much daily business for us but these days of action bring together a range of different teams to work together to target individuals.
"The latest Operation Barracuda day of action was a success in taking action against individuals involved in various forms of criminality across our area."
Keeping opportunist thieves out
The operation also saw neighbourhood officers out and about giving people crime prevention advice in relation to burglaries and thefts from vehicles.
Sergeant Fox added: "We also took the opportunity to raise awareness of how people can keep their homes safe by taking simple crime prevention measures, particularly at this time of the year, such as by keeping windows and doors locked and secured to keep opportunist thieves out."
The last Operation Barracuda "day of action" in May resulted in 25 people being arrested in connection with offences including supplying drugs and money laundering - and also saw cash, drugs and luxury cars including a Jaguar and Porsche seized.
