A laundry worker has been jailed for a year after police found cannabis and amphetamines worth £830 during a raid on his flat in Pwllheli .
Craig Joseph Pritchard, 25, who had a flat above a cafe on Y Maes had pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing class B drugs with intent to supply before magistrates at Caernarfon on June 10.
Today he appeared at Caernarfon crown court for sentencing.
Sentencing Pritchard to a total of 12 months imprisonment, Judge Philip Harris-Jenkins said police had found a “significant amount” of drugs at his flat as well as the “usual paraphernalia.”
He said Pritchard had breached previous community orders.
Karl Scholz, prosecuting, said police raided Pritchard’s flat on September 30 last year accompanied by his partner.
Mr Scholz said: “He was seen in the flat. His behaviour was somewhat strange and described by one offices as ‘bizarre’. He was talking to himself.”
In a freezer, police found 25.5 grams of amphetamine of 49% purity, when the average purity on the street was 18% with the street value being £140.
Mr Scholz said there were other bags of amphetamine as well as 63 bags of £10 deals of herbal cannabis in a shopping bag which had been thrown on to the flat’s roof.
The value of the other drugs was £690, making a total of £830.
There were also grinders, £455 cash, scales and four mobile phones.
Mr Scholz said: “When the defendant was questioned he said the drugs were for his own use.”
He said that one of the messages on Pritchard’s phone referred to somebody getting a taser for him.
Mr Scholz said: “Hand-held electronic stun guns are common for drug dealers to have.”
Matthew Curtis, defending, said: “This was his own operation. He wasn’t acting under the influence of others.
"He had a significant debt. For the past six months he has worked for a reputable laundry company but he is still smoking weed.”
