HUNDREDS of tubs of Joe's Ice Cream have been stolen from the famous Swansea company.
The firm said hundreds of its 120 ml tubs were stolen from the Morriston area over the weekend.
The company is advising people and businesses not to buy from anyone other than regular, authorised members or agents of the company.
Lucy Hughes of Joe's Ice Cream, said: "There were a lot of small tubs, which would be very difficult to transport without a large freezer van. We are still supplying and delivering to our usual customers, and people buying Joe's ice cream from them can continue to enjoy it.
"But we would advise against anyone buying from someone unknown or cheaper than our wholesale price, particularly if they have suspicions about where it came from".
Joe's Ice Cream has been trading in St Helen's Road in Swansea since 1922 and is synonymous with the area.
Many visitors to the city feel a taste of the unique ice cream is a must during their stay, and it has many famous fans, including Rob Brydon and Catherine Zeta Jones.
As well as its branches in Swansea and Mumbles, it recently expanded to open an ice cream parlour in Cardiff, and is in the process of opening a Llanelli branch.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "Officers are investigating the theft of a large quantity of Joe's ice cream from a van which was parked at an industrial unit at Swansea Enterprise Park at the weekend.
"The suspects emptied the ice cream containers into large bags, similar to those used by builders merchants.
"Anyone who has information about the theft or the sale of the stolen property should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting occurrence number 1600249293".
