Phillip Rudd had taught at the school for 11 years before he was sacked.
A TEACHER has been struck off for having sex with a 16-year-old schoolgirl he showered with perfume and chocolates.
Married maths master Phillip Rudd, 42, flattered the schoolgirl by calling her beautiful - and promised to leave his wife for her.
A disciplinary hearing in Cardiff was told that junior rugby coach Mr Rudd took the girl's virginity during a secret sex liaison at his family's home.
Bearded Mr Rudd drove the girl to a remote car park on her 17th birthday to give her a £50 bottle of perfume - before asking her to perform a sexual act on him.
Presenting officer Melinka Berridge said: "He groomed the girl for his sexual gratification, flattering her by commenting on her physical and emotional attractiveness.
"The girl said she was flattered by the attention he gave her.
"She said he shared with her personal details about his marital problems.
"Once he gained her trust through flattery and gifts and attention he asked her to engage in sexual intercourse with him.
"Between September 2013 and January 2014 he then engaged in a sexual relationship with her. She was 16 when the relationship began and he was 39."
The Cardiff hearing was told Mr Rudd began emailing the girl after an awards evening at Ysgol Glan-Y-Mor in Burry Port, Carmarthenshire.
Miss Berridge said the relationship began just months after the girl had moved on to a nearby college.
Mr Rudd began messaging the girl, known only as Person X in the hearing, after she had left school to go to college.
The girl said: "He told me he no longer loved his wife and wanted a divorce and to be with me. He said he was being forced to sleep in a box room."
The hearing was read an email Rudd sent to the girl in January 2014 where he said he realised she didn't want to hear from him anymore.
The email read: "I'm finding it hard to write this and I'm fighting back the tears.
"These last few months gave been great for me and I'm sure for you too. I'll never ever forget you.
"I truly do love you and I wish I was either single or I'd met you 20 years ago."
Mr Rudd, who had taught at the school for 11 years, told the misconduct hearing he admitted sharing personal and inappropriate emails with the girl.
But he denied buying her gifts or engaging in sexual behaviour.
Miss Berridge told the hearing that the girl had admitted to her parents what had happened.
She said: "There is not a snowball in hell's chance she would have admitted events of a sexual nature if they were not true.
"She is clearly upset, distressed and embarrassed and feels shame."
The hearing of the Education Workforce Council in Cardiff found the allegations against Mr Rudd had been proven and he was struck off indefinitely.
Committee chair Mrs Jacquie Turnbull said: "We find that his conduct was sexually motivated and he did have sexual intercourse with her.
"He was guilty of unacceptable professional conduct and his behaviour fell short of the standards required of him."
