Six horses had to be rescued by the fire service after they were chained to the ground and caught by the tide.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 8.21am on Saturday from member of the public who reported the horses had been chained and were unable to move away from a high tide at Rover Way, Tremorfa in Cardiff .
The water was up to the horses’ barrels at the time of the call and crews donned water rescue gear and began the rescue operation when they arrived.
At 8.37am four horses had been freed and led to dry land while two horses were facing trouble in deeper water.
At 9.08am the horses had been freed. The rescue operation involved six fire crews from Cardiff and Newport .
The brigade have contact the RSPCA who will now investigate the matter.
