Two cars were destroyed by arsonists within seconds of each other last night as attacks in Wrexham continue.
The vehicles were parked on Llwyneinion, Rhosllannerchrugog , when they were targeted shortly before 10pm.
A fire engine from Johnstown was initially sent to the scene, with another crew from Wrexham then called in to assist.
Nobody was hurt in last night’s incident, which is the latest in a string of arson attacks across Wrexham.
A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We received a call to Llwyneinion, Rhosllannerchrugog, at 9.57pm.
“Two vehicles were on fire and the cause was deliberate ignition.
“An appliance from Johnstown was initially sent but another was also called in from Wrexham to assist.
“Both cars received 100% damage.”
The latest attack comes just after Wrexham council was handed £10,000 to tackle the worrying firebug scourge which has seen vehicles routinely set on fire across the county.
Council chiefs have launched a consultation asking the public what can be done to stamp it out.
Facebook and Instagram social media websites have even been suggested as a way of getting the anti-arson message out.
The latest incident also comes as Fire Brigade Union chiefs claim up to 24 posts and one of two appliances could be lost at Wrexham, as the North Wales Fire Authority looks to cut £1m from its budget by 2019/20.
Caia Park has been particularly badly hit by arsonists with other areas including Hightown, Rhosllannerchrugog and Penycae.
Last month a car exploded on St Giles Crescent, Caia Park , after it was set on fire.
A van also exploded a few days later at Heol Mabon , Penycae.
Fire chiefs have continually warned of the dangers of setting deliberate fires, which can put lives at risk and tie up precious emergency service resources.
