Police and ambulances were called to the street and a man was taken to hospital

A man has been taken to hospital after an incident on a quiet Valleys street.
There were reports of a heavy emergency services presence on Miles Street in Maerdy, Rhondda. Police vehicles were still parked on the street on Friday afternoon and a police officer was standing outside the front door of a house.
People in the village said they had seen a number of emergency service vehicles heading towards Maerdy.
The Welsh Ambulance Service were called to the incident just after 9.30am on Friday.

A spokesman said: “We were called at just after 9.30am this morning to a private address in Maerdy.”
He confirmed they responded with a rapid response vehicle, emergency ambulance and community first responder.
He added: “An adult male was conveyed to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital with a medical condition.”
One local resident wrote on Facebook: “What is going on in Maerdy? All I can hear is police cars. Got to be about seven or eight now.”
Another wrote: “Anyone know what’s happening up Maerdy? Loads of coppers gone up.”
In response to rumours on Facebook, a South Wales Police spokeswoman said no Tasers were used.
She added: "Police officers attended an address on Miles Street, Maerdy shortly after 9am today as part of an ongoing investigation.
"A 51-year-old man, unrelated to the investigation, was taken ill and medical assistance was provided. The man has been taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, where he is currently being treated.
"No arrests have been made. No further detail is available at this point."
The Independent Police Complaints Commission said: "We were notified by South Wales Police today of an incident in Maerdy this morning. We have deployed investigators to attend post incident police procedures, and to begin an assessment."
