Swansea,South Wales - Man with 210 previous offences fined after abusing Swansea Council staff

Jason Kenneth Jones from Mayhill pleaded guilty to a public order offence at Swansea Magistrates Court
SWANSEA man with convictions for 210 previous offences has been fined after admitting shouting and swearing at council housing staff.
Swansea Magistrates' Court heard that police were called to Long Ridge in Mayhill, at 6.30am on April 22 where they found a group of "intoxicated" neighbours, including Jason Kenneth Jones and his partner.
Sharon Anderson, prosecuting, said the couple had been on a night out in the city centre, but on returning home Jones' girlfriend had slipped on steps at the rear of the property.
Jones had flagged down Swansea Council neighbourhood support staff who were in the area, but then became aggressive and abusive towards them — when police arrived he was warned about his behaviour but continued to swear at council staff and was arrested.
Jones, aged 44, of Long Ridge, pleaded guilty to a public order offence.
The court heard Jones has an "extensive record" of some 210 previous offences, but had been out of trouble since January 2015 prior to the April incident.
Simon Howell, for Jones, said his client had been concerned for the welfare of his partner after she had fallen, and accepted that he had "wrongly assessed" the situation and taken out his concerns on the council staff.
The solicitor said his client had lived in Mayhill all his life but had asked to be moved to get away from "certain people who won't leave him alone", and the council had now found him accommodation in Manselton.
District Judge Neil Thomas, sitting in the magistrates court, told him: "People who are there to help the community do not deserve to be treated in the way you treated them."
