A MAN who sexually abused and assaulted three young girls over a 15 year period has been jailed for more than 16 years.
One young victim said that at the time of her abuse she was frightened Father Christmas wouldn't leave her any presents because of what Colin David Cooze was doing to her.
Swansea Crown Court heard that the abuse meted out by Cooze had left emotional scars on all three of his victims.
Cooze, aged 41, of Argyle Street, Sandfields, Swansea, had previously pleaded guilty to eight counts of sexual offences committed during the 1990s and early 2000s when he appeared in the dock today for sentencing.
James Jenkins, for the prosecution, told the court that one of his young victims said she still believed in Father Christmas at the time she was being abused and "thought she would not get any presents because of what they were doing".
The court heard details of statement from another one of Cooze's victims in which she said she thinks about what happened to her every day.
Another said she was seeing a counsellor to help her deal with the psychological impact of her abuse.
Ieuan Rees, for Cooze, said the only real mitigation he could put forward on his client's behalf was his guilty plea - though he acknowledged that the pleas hadn't been made until the day he was due to stand trial.
The barrister added that Cooze wanted to apologise to his victims.
Mr Justice David Holgate told Cooze that he lacked empathy for his victims and had shown no signs of remorse.
Cooze was sentenced to a total of 16 years and eight prison in prison, and will be on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.
