A woman faced a terrifying ordeal after a man subjected her to a volley of "lewd and inappropriate" comments at a railway station before following her on to a train.
It left the woman so distressed she was forced to flee the train – and now British Transport Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
Investigating officer PC Harry Thompson said that while waiting for a train at Flint at around 11.50am on May 5, the victim was approached by a man who asked if she had a cigarette.
“When she replied she didn’t, she was subjected to lewd and inappropriate comments and gestures,” he added.
'This was an extremely distressing experience'
"She was then followed onto a train by the man, who continued to intimidate her throughout the journey, leaving her so scared that she ran from the train and into a taxi at Wrexham General station in order to get away from him."
Officers have been pursuing several lines of inquiry, leading to the release of the CCTV image.
PC Thompson added: “This was an extremely distressing experience for the victim, who was subjected to despicable acts and comments while travelling alone. She has naturally been left feeling vulnerable as a result of this man’s reprehensible behaviour.
“Unwanted sexual behaviour of any kind on the rail network will not be tolerated. Fortunately incidents of this nature are rare but, when they do occur, we will do all we can to track down those responsible.
“I would appeal to anyone who recognises the man pictured, or knows his current whereabouts, to please contact us as I believe he may have key information which could greatly assist us.
“We are also appealing for anyone who may have been at Flint station around the time to come forward. You may have seen or heard something that could prove vital.”
Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40.
