Andrea Christine Jones admitted pretending to have serious illness in order to dupe man out of his money

Gwynedd woman could face a prison term after she admitted swindling a man out of almost £50,000 - by pretending she had cancer.
Andrea Christine Jones appeared before a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court to face a single charge of fraud.
The 42-year-old admitted a charge of “dishonestly making a false representation intending to make a gain for herself” in that she had cancer and needed money for treatment between November 5, 2013 and November 29, 2014.
In all she received £48,818.80. The full facts of the case were not outlined in court today but the matter occurred in Caernarfon.
Jones, of Llys Siabod, Caernarfon, spoke only to confirm her name and to enter her plea during the hearing.
Her barrister Dafydd Roberts told the judge: “She has entered a guilty plea at the first opportunity. She accepts this is a serious matter and that a period of custody is at the forefront of the court’s mind.
“I would however ask for a pre-sentence report and a period of grace so that she might be able to make any necessary arrangements.”
Judge Philip Harris-Jenkins agreed and adjourned the case until Friday when Jones will be sentenced.
