Toys and clothing are just some of the items ditched by Brymbo Pool, Wrexham - despite a modern recycling centre being nearby

Fly-tippers who dumped rubbish at a Wrexham beauty spot have been branded “disgraceful”.
Bin bags, cardboard boxes, old children’s toys and clothing were among the many items that have been left piled up in the grass next to Brymbo Pool in recent weeks - despite it being less than two miles to the nearest recycling centre.
The pool, just off Waterside Way, is used by local anglers and is also a popular spot for walkers.
Wrexham council has confirmed that the rubbish will be cleared ‘in due course’.

Ward councillor Paul Rogers tweeted to say he had met with council officers to see the mess first-hand.
He posted: “Have met with on site with @wrexhamcbc officers to investigate disgraceful fly-tipping near Brymbo Pool.”
He told the Daily Post: “Following a meeting with our Streetscene area supervisor, the Wrexham council’s environmental enforcement officers will be visiting the site near Brymbo Pool to see if they can trace the source of this fly tipping.”

He added: “As councillor for Brymbo it is very frustrating that this happens when we have the modern recycling centre on the doorstep in Lodge.”
“The community council will now have to pick up the tab for clearing the site when these funds should be used to fund improvements to facilities.”
Cllr David A Bithell, lead member for environment and transport, added: “We are aware of the issue with the fly-tipping near Brymbo Pool and it shall be dealt with in due course.”
