Six men have come forward to talk to police after reports of loutish behaviour involving Wrexham AFC fans on a train.
The men are being interviewed by British Transport Police after the force issued an appeal and CCTV images of six people they wanted to speak to.
Supporters of Wrexham AFC allegedly sang offensive songs and mocked flood victims on their way to an away game at Halifax on Saturday, December 28.
A BTP spokesman said: “I would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance with this appeal , which led to the men making themselves known to police.”
Some Wrexham fans were said to be drunk and rowdy while travelling between Hebden Bridge and Halifax.
A woman travelling on the train said she was “offended” and “disgusted” by the behaviour , which took place at about 1.15pm.
The 33-year-old from Halifax boarded the train at Hebden Bridge and sat in the rear carriage.
She noticed a group of between 10 and 12 fans, who were singing sexist and offensive songs, a BTP spokesman said.
One of the group reportedly climbed into the overhead luggage rack and another was throwing his shoes around the carriage, narrowly missing other passengers.
It was also reported that thugs on the train had mocked flood victims, chanting “where are your houses gone?” at flood-ravaged Hebden Bridge.
