A WOMAN has been arrested in relation to a night-time break-in at a Greggs bakers in Ammanford.
Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police were called in the early hours of yesterday morning, following a report of a break-in at the town's only outlet of the popular bakery chain.
A spokeswoman for the force said: "Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a break-in at Greggs Bakery on Quay Street, Ammanford, at approximately 3am on Tuesday, February 16."
When the officers attended the store, they found the window was smashed.
Continuing to investigate, they found a woman inside, who is suspected to have used the broken window to force entry.
"Following this, a 30-year-old woman from the Ammanford area was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and a public order offence," added the Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman.
The woman was still being held in custody at the time of going to press.
Ammanford town and Carmarthenshire county councillor Deian Harries has applauded the police officers on their actions.
Mr Harries said: "It's awful, and for Ammanford it's quite a shock because crime is quite low.
"Well done to the police."
A spokeswoman for Greggs said: "We can confirm there was a break-in at our shop in Ammanford and the police responded to the incident."
She said the store would be trading as normal today.
