A MAN who admitted sex acts towards a Wrexham schoolgirl has been jailed.
Jason Mills, 46, of no fixed address, admitted two charges of sexual assault and engaging in a sexual act in the presence of a child.
He was jailed on Thursday for 30 months and placed on the sex register indefinitely. A 10-year sexual harm prevention order was also made at Mold Crown Court.
Judge Rhys Rowlands said it was far too serious to be dealt with by anything other than an immediate prison sentence.
He said there were two acts of touching the girl over her clothing and one where he indulged in an indecent act in her presence.
The victim was very young, he said, and Mills was 32 years older than her.
“There is a great disparity of age,” said the judge adding: “This was thoroughly depraved behaviour on your part.”
Judge Rowland said it was accepted Mills had no previous convictions and it was out of character.
He also suffered from bipolar disorder but that was no excuse for “touching up a young girl”.
Oliver King, prosecuting, said after the offences occurred last autumn Mills then made his way to Scotland where he volunteered himself to the mental health services.
He was assessed, was found not to be suitable for treatment and he handed himself in to the police.
Mills was returned to North Wales and in interview he said he suffered from bipolar disorder and 90 per cent of the time he was in a low mood.
He had separated from his partner and could not cope.
Mills denied that he got some kind of kick out of what he had done
