A notorious paedophile ex-Scoutmaster jailed for 12 years in 2014 for abusing boys was back in court yesterday – when he admitted charges involving another eight youngsters.
Martyn Tucker, formerly of Sealand Road, Chester, pleaded guilty at Caernarfon Crown Court to 28 offences of indecent assault or gross indecency in an 18-year period between 1967 and 1985.
One victim was aged only 12.
The court was told “statements of complaint” from new victims had been generated as a result of the publicity of the previous case in May 2014.
Tucker, 69, appeared via video link from prIson.
Myles Wilson, prosecuting, asked for two further cases alleging sexual activity with a child of 13 in 2008, to which Tucker pleaded not guilty, to lie on the file and Judge Niclas Parry agreed to this.
Tucker will be sentenced in August or September, after the trial of another man.
Yesterday he entered his pleas in a calm, cultured voice.
Stephen Edwards, defending, said Tucker would be 70 in April.
But the judge said: “I am not going to be influenced by his age.”
Mr Edwards added Tucker was serving his sentence at Rye Hill prison, near Rugby, and his earliest release date was May 2020.
When sentenced at Mold Crown Court in 2014 it was stated five boys had been involved, cases dating back up to 46 years.
Tucker was a former shop manager, had worked for two councils and as a solicitor’s legal executive dealing with social welfare issues.
He’d told police: “I have been waiting for this, particularly since the Jimmy Savile stuff. I hoped it would never happen but I knew one day it would. I ruined my life and I ruined others.”
