Benjamin Griffiths who told police he gave the woman a 'tickle' jailed for three years

A man who stamped on his helpless former partner’s face five or six times after forcing his way into her home has been jailed for three years.
When the victim tried to get up Benjamin Griffiths continued the attack by stamping on her neck and chest.
Mold Crown Court heard that Griffiths, who had previous convictions for attacking two other previous partners, admitted burglary with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.
Judge Rhys Rowlands told Griffiths, of Ty Wesley in Ponciau near Wrexham, that they were particularly serious and disturbing offences, the more so because of his background of similar offending.

Griffiths had 'massive jealousy and anger issues'

It was the third time that he had lost his temper and attacked a former partner. It would have been a terrifying ordeal for her, the judge said.
Griffiths, 25, broke into her house on January 21 and the woman ended up on the floor: “You stamped your foot down on her face five or six times,” Judge Rowlands said.
The woman had been left with “very unpleasant injuries”, was in a lot of pain and in a state of anxiety and stress.
In a victim impact statement she told how Griffiths had “massive problems with jealousy and anger issues”.
The judge agreed with that assessment adding that he had carried out a “sustained attack...using your feet as a weapon against her”.

He told police victim's injuries looked worse than they were

Prosecutor David Mainstone told how the victim screamed out in pain as Griffiths launched his attack.
When it ended she was able to get up and he told her to “clean your face up” but she saw her opportunity to escape and ran barefoot for a mile to the home of his mother, where she called the police.
When interviewed by police he claimed that the photographs of the injuries looked worse than they really were and that he had “given her a tickle”.
The prosecutor said that in 2010 the defendant smashed his way into the home of a former partner in a jealous rage and grabbed her with both hands before punching her to the nose.
In 2013 again in a jealous rage he grabbed another former partner by the throat, punched her four times to the face and held a pillow over her face so that she found it difficult to breathe.
John Wyn Williams, defending, said that his client realised that he had real issues of jealousy within relationships that needed to be tackled.
He understood that he had real anger management issues and had signed up for courses while on remand.
Mr Williams said that his client had ADHD as a child, had learning difficulties and the root of his problems may be a medical condition. He accepted responsibility for what he had done.
He was deeply remorseful and accepted full responsibility for what he had done and he knew that it was he who was in the wrong.
