A GWYNEDD county councillor has been charged with assault and using threatening behaviour.
Cllr Chris O’Neal, who represents the Marchog ward on Gwynedd Council, will appear in Caernarfon Crown Court on March 18.
Gwynedd Council said it is currently considering the implications of the case but Mr O’Neal remains a county councillor.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said the 37-year-old was arrested on Tuesday, January 26.
He was charged with assault and using threatening behaviour before being released on bail.
The Chronicle understands the charges relate to an incident at the Premier Cars office in Bethesda.
A Gwynedd Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of the case and are in the process of considering its implications.
“Cllr O’Neal remains a county councillor."
Cllr O’Neal was cleared of blackmail by a jury at Mold Crown Court in November last year.
He had been suspended from Gwynedd Council during the case, which also cost him his security company which was placed into liquidation.
