A WOMAN has been jailed after a string of thefts and banned from all on-licensed premises in Wrexham for a year.
Lorna Samuels, 42, of Daniels Drive, Ruabon, pleaded guilty to offences when she appeared from custody at Wrexham Magistrates Court.
She admitted stealing meat from Morrisons in Wrexham on February 4 and the Co-op in Chirk on February 2.
Samuels also pleaded guilty to assaults at the Golden Lion in Wrexham on October 23 and failure to attend court.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, said: “On October 23 she was restrained outside the Golden Lion by door security and was agitated and swearing.
“She deliberately spat in the doorman’s face and used her handbag as a weapon, striking his shoulder, as well as a belt which she took out of the bag.
“The defendant then throws the handbag, misses the doorman and strikes someone in a wheelchair.
“There were no injuries but the incident was captured on CCTV.
“She went on to commit further offences at the Co-op and Morrisons, placing items in her handbag.”
Euros Jones, defending, said Samuels stole to feed herself because her benefits had been stopped when she was in custody last year.
He said: “In relation to the assault, she was frogmarched out and was perhaps dealt with more force than she should have been by the bouncer.
“Unfortunately the handbag struck a gentleman in a wheelchair.”
District judge Gwyn Jones sentenced Samuels to 20 weeks in prison.
He said: “You are no stranger to the court.
“It is clear that when in drink you are a totally different person to when you are sober.
“You were out of control, allowed your venom to show and a member of the public was caught in the cross-fire.”
Mr Jones also excluded Samuels from all on-licensed premises in Wrexham for 12 months.
She will also have to pay an £80 victim surcharge.
