A MAN bit his partner’s nose in a fit of jealousy, a court heard.
It was the second time he had assaulted her, Mold Crown Court was told yesterday.
There then followed a campaign of harassment when he threatened her and her family, said he would kill them and burn her mother’s house down.
Christopher Bambrough, 24, of Pearson Street in Rhos, admitted two charges of assault and harassment.
He received a sentence of 147 days’ imprisonment, suspended for a year, was placed on rehabilitation and sent on a ‘building better relationships’ programme run by the probation service.
The Recorder Richard Williams ordered that Bambrough be tagged for a total of 84 days between 8pm and 6am.
A three year restraining order was also made and he must not approach Miss Roberts in any way, he is not to post anything about her on social media, and he is not to enter New Broughton.
The judge said the sentence was intended to address the risks and issues he posed to current or prospective partners and to try to prevent further offending.
Prosecutor David Mainstone told how Bambrough had a previous public order conviction involving a previous partner.
Single mum Kelly Louise Roberts had been in a relationship with Bambrough but one day in July he got it into his head that she was laughing at him and grabbed her face, pushed her back into a sofa and kicked her hard to the knee. He later started crying and apologising.
In September, he accused her of smiling at one of her male friends and again grabbed her to the face and bit her to the bridge of the nose.
Later he cried and apologised again.
The harassment occurred in September and October when he threatened to harm her and her family.
He said he would burn her mother’s house down, kill all members of her family, and said: “You are all dead.”
Three days later he threatened to slit her throat.
On October 5 she saw him in Wrexham when he shouted “watch what is going to happen to you” and punched his fist into his open palm.
In a later text he apologised and said that he was ‘proper gutted’.
Other text messages indicated his jealous nature, said Mr Mainstone.
Mark Connor, defending, said his client accepted that the offences were serious.
They were in a domestic setting against a vulnerable individual.
The package put forward by the probation service was aimed at addressing the issues that he had.
The judge said he had issues of not being able to treat women with respect.
Women who formed relationships with him had to be regarded as being at risk from him because of his established pattern of abusive behaviour.
His approach to the proceedings had been cynical in that he had waited until the complainant attended court to give evidence before he pleaded guilty.
The second assault was the most serious which involved him using his teeth as a weapon.
He then compounded the matter by making threats against her and her family.
Bambrough was ordered to pay £500 compensation, £1,000 costs and a £80 surcharge.
