A burglar has been jailed after more than 100 people recognised him from CCTV footage posted on Facebook.
The man, from Pontypool, was arrested after being captured in the security video breaking into The Horse and Jockey Inn in Pontypool on New Year’s Day.
After being recognised by hundreds of people he was eventually tracked down byMonmouthshire officers and was arrested, charged and sentenced to seven months in prison.

CCTV posted on Facebook

James Rawbone, from Cwmbran, decided to post the footage on Facebook after his friend and owner of The Horse and Jockey Inn, Leighton Hopkins, asked him to take a look at it.
He said: “Leighton asked me to drill down through the CCTV and find some shots to put on Facebook.
“The first bit of CCTV shows the man pulling up in the car park and clearly shows his car, along with the registration, the colour and a distinctive tow hitch on the back.
“A couple of minutes later it shows him scaling the fence and breaking into the cold storage room at the back of the pub.
“He must have had very expensive taste because he wasn’t going for the chips or the onion rings he was going for the more exotic things like the alligator steaks.
“He was in the cold storage room for around half an hour, it looked like he was on a bit of a shopping spree, grabbing lots of stuff and carrying them to his car. “He then decided to come back and have a go at the actual pub and steal a handbag and various other things.
