A banned teacher who sent flirty text messages and pictures of a penis to a teenager has been ordered to do a community sex offenders programme — and pay his victim £500 compensation.
Thirty-seven year-old Rhodri Owen Jones sent messages to the 18-year-old telling her she was "the prettiest girl in the world" and that he wanted to give her "big cuddles"— then sent the indecent images.
Swansea Magistrates Court heard Jones had been struck off from the teaching register in 2011 following disciplinary proceedings relating to conversations with a pupil.
Jones, of Briarwood Gardens, Newton, had previously pleaded guilty to sending an offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing message when he appeared before justices for sentencing.

The court heard that the victim received the text messages late at night after she had got home from work, followed by the intimate photographs.
Justices were told the youngster was left "horrified and shocked" at what happened and told her parents, who called the police.
The court heard details of a probation report into the defendant which highlighted his "cognitive dissonance" about what was or was not appropriate sexual behaviour.
Dan Heard, for Jones, urged magistrates to follow the recommendations in the probation report and impose a community order on the defendant rather than a short custodial sentence, which would "benefit nobody".
The solicitor added that his instructions were that the 2011 incident, while inappropriate given his position as a teacher, had not been of a sexual nature.
Magistrates sentenced Jones to a three year community order with a sex offenders group work programme, a rehabilitation requirement, and 300 hours of unpaid work.
Jones must also pay his victim £500 compensation, and pay £85 costs and a £60 surcharge, and he was made the subject of an indefinite restraining order banning him from contacting the teenager.
