CALLOUS thieves have struck at a charity that helps vulnerable people enjoy the great outdoors.
The break-in at the Pedal Power service at Alyn Waters Country Park was the second in less than a year.
Items stolen included three mountain bikes and nearly all the tools stored in a temporary building at the site, which was also raided in March last year.
Karen Balmer, trustee of the Cycling 4 All which supports Pedal Power said: “It is a huge blow to return after the Christmas break to be faced with deliberate damage to the Pedal Power site and the loss of essential tools and bikes.
“It is a great shame that people could steal from a service that supports the most vulnerable in society. Pedal Power helps people in poor health and those with disabilities to enjoy the freedom and benefits of cycling.”
She added: “The service is mostly run thanks to the dedication and support of wonderful volunteers and it urgently needs funding to make it sustainable. This break-in is a setback that we can ill afford, however we will ensure the service is up and running in 2016 and we will be open business as usual every Wednesday and Friday.”
The service, which is also supported by Groundwork North Wales, was targeted in March, when another three mountain bikes and tools were also stolen.
Anyone with information on the break-in can contact North Wales Police on 101, quoting incident reference S194283, or call Crimestoppers Wales anonymously on 0800 555 111.
