A MAN has been jailed after admitting racially aggravated behaviour, criminal damage and spitting at a police officer.
Ian John Taylor, 27, was recalled to prison after pleading guilty to a string of offences in the early hours of Sunday.
Helen Tench, prosecuting at Wrexham Magistrates Court, said Taylor caused a disturbance in Alexandra Road in the Offa area of Wrexham.
She said: “At 5.30am on Sunday morning a neighbour was awoken by the sound of smashing.
“He saw the defendant with a female, standing in the garden with a golf club above his head, hitting a window and smashing it.
“The defendant then walked over to a vehicle and was putting items in his coat while the female tried to calm him down.
“As a man walked towards them, he said ‘here’s someone who’ll have it’.”
Ms Tench said Taylor then used a racial slur while the man, of oriental ethnicity, walked on. Taylor then went inside his shared accommodation.
Ms Tench added: “When officers arrived they witness the damage and from his room he made direct threats to slice their throats, and was ranting and raving.
“Officers forced entry and when he arrived at the custody bay, he was uncooperative, and turned and spat at an officer.”
Euros Jones, defending, said Taylor had a number of issues and would have to be recalled to prison for a minimum of 28 days.
He said: “He was in housed accommodation but he has lost that now.
“The person he was remonstrating with, he believes to be a rapist, which is why he was in an agitated state.”
Taylor, who appeared from custody and is now of no fixed address, was sent back to prison for one month by magistrates. He will also pay £85 costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
After sentencing, acting inspector Steve Owens said North Wales Police would apply for a Criminal Behavioural Order (CBO) against Taylor, because he “caused a significant amount of disruption in the local community”.
He said North Wales Police would see whether they would work with other agencies to address Taylor’s problems, which appeared to be aggravated by drink and drugs.
Insp Owens said much of North Wales Police’s work was to address “demand reduction”.
He added: “This is a prime example of where we can assist someone to address their own behaviour, but we can also impose restrictions because of the CBO.”
