A family has been left “sickened” after their beloved pet dog was knocked over and left for dead by the side of a road.
Three-year-old pug Percy suffered horrific injuries – including a badly injured spine, fractured pelvis and dislocated hip – following the hit and run on Wern Road in Rhosesmor, Flintshire, yesterday morning (January 14).
Although he is currently in a stable condition there is a chance he may not walk again.
Percy has also had to undergo surgery today to remove his right eye which was severely damaged in the collision.
His owner Cerys Boden, who lives on Wern Road, says the pet is “one of the family” and adored by her one-year-old son George.

She said Percy had been out in the garden at about 9am but after 20 minutes was not responding to her calls to come back in.
Cerys began to get her son ready so they could both go and look for him, at which point she received a call from Grange Veterinary Hospital in Mold to say Percy had been run over and they were unsure whether he would survive.
It turned out a male volunteer at the nearby Capricorn Animal Rescue had discovered him lying on the side of the road, wrapped him in a blanket and rushed him to the vets.
Percy, who is microchipped, was then taken to an intensive care unit at a veterinary hospital in Runcorn where the full extent of his injuries became apparent.
Cerys, who has owned Percy with her partner Nathan Ringguth since he was a puppy, told the Daily Post: “I was in shock and distraught when I got the phone call. He was very critical.
“He’s still in a really bad way, he can’t move. If his spine doesn’t recover he may not walk which means we may have to put him down.
“They say he has a 70% chance of recovering so we’re staying positive. The vets think he was hit from behind and his body was thrown to the side.
“It’s sickening that someone could just leave him for dead. I’m gobsmacked. We’re just lucky that a passer-by found him when he did – I can’t thank him enough.
She believes Percy managed to slip under a gate in the garden before being hit by a vehicle just a short distance from the house.
"Distraught"
Cerys’s sister Eli Boden Murphy added: “My sister, partner and family are distraught that someone would run over an innocent animal and leave them to die on the side of the road.
“I hope that someone in the area might of seen what had happened, and we would also like to express our thanks to the kind man who found Percy and rushed him straight to the vets.
“The vet said that if he was found 10 minutes later Percy would have been dead. We cannot thank him enough for saving our Percy.
“Percy has been so brave and we are hoping he will be able to adjust to his new life after undergoing such a horrific experience.”
She is currently in the process of organising a fundraising event at the Red Lion pub in Rhosesmor next month to help with Percy’s surgery costs.
