Cwmbran,South Wales - Seventh arrest in connection with fire which gutted primary school on New Year's Day

A man aged 18 has been arrested and bailed over the blaze at Coed Eva Primary School earlier this month

A seventh person has been arrested in connection with a fire which destroyed part of Coed Eva Primary School on New Year’s Day.
Police investigations into the incident are still ongoing and a toal of seven people have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
They are currently on police bail.

Those arrested are all aged between 14 and 21 and are all from the Cwmbran area and the latest arrest is of an 18-year-old man from Cwmbran.
Detective Inspector Sam Payne, of Gwent Police , said; “I would like to thank the community for their assistance and cooperation throughout the investigation so far.
“Enquiries are ongoing and I would ask anyone with information, no matter how insignificant they think it may be, to get in touch.
“Individuals within the local community may hold vital information to identify those responsible.”
The infant and nursery buildings of the school were left destroyed following the fire which was set in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
This Sunday the school will be holding a 5km Fun Run, starting at Cwmbran Stadium, to raise money to help repair the damage.
