Dozens of North Wales university students have been punished for incidents involving drugs in the last three years.
Bangor University officials have hauled 74 students up before disciplinary panels between 2012 and 2015 for matters involving illegal substances.
Figures obtained by the Daily Post via a Freedom of Information Request reveal that students at the Bangor institution have received fines and warnings for incidents while some have even been told to leave their halls of residence.
In 2012-13 there were 13 disciplinaries regarding drugs which saw three students ordered to move out of their halls of residence and 10 more received a fine and warning.
The following year, in 2013-14, the number of disciplinaries for drugs at Bangor University almost tripled, with 32 taking place.
A total of 21 received a fine and a warning, nine received just a fine and two were suspended from halls.
While in 2014-15 there were 23 disciplinaries relating to drugs, with two students receiving warnings, seven got fines, 13 were handed a fine and warning and one person was suspended from living in their halls of residence.
Six students at Bangor were pulled up before disciplinaries about drugs in 2015 with three receiving a fine and three more getting both a warning and fine.
Records at Glyndŵr University show that officials dealt with just one student caught with drugs during 2012-15.
A student at the Wrexham institute was found guilty of possession of controlled drugs in October 2015 and was given a final written warning and requested to attend drug awareness sessions.
A Glyndŵr University spokesman said: “The university takes issues and incidents relating to drugs very seriously and actively works with the Students’ Guild, North Wales Police and other partners to ensure its campuses are safe and welcoming for students and the wider community.”
