A former Colwyn Bay town councillor denied two sex charges allegedly involving a boy of 14. John George Reaney, aged 50, of Ormskirk, near Southport, was granted conditional bail.
At Caernarfon crown court he pleaded not guilty to causing a child to engage in sexual activity in June last year, and on the same date having sexual activity with him.
Judge Merfyn Hughes QC said a trial would be fixed provisionally for May 3.
