Swansea,South Wales - Disabled man attacked with dog lead in Swansea street

Jeffrey Knox pleaded guilty to assault at Swansea Magistrates Court
A DOG walker whipped a disabled gay man with a dog lead, then tried to set his pet on him — but instead the animal just wanted to be petted, a court has heard.
Jeffrey Knox attacked the man with the lead and made offensive comments about his sexuality on a street in Penlan, swinging the lead and hitting him to the ribs, shoulder and neck.
Swansea Magistrates Court heard that Knox then tried to get his dog to attack the man — but instead the dog went up to him in a friendly manner "and just wanted to be fussed".

Julie Sullivan, prosecuting, said a woman then intervened, putting herself between the two men and eventually lead Knox away from the scene.
When police arrived the defendant was found to be in possession of a cannabis grinder.
Knox, aged 51, of Mannheim Quay, Swansea Marina, pleaded guilty to assault and to possessing the Class B drug when he appeared before District Judge Neil Thomas.
The court heard a victim impact statement from the man Knox assaulted in which he said he thought he was going to be "beaten up badly" by the assailant until the woman intervened.
Dan Griffiths, for Knox, said the incident had happened when his client had stopped taking his medication.
The solicitor said the defendant "was not a man of violence" but was someone who "clearly has significant difficulties".
The judge said the attack had been a degrading experience for the victim, but he said he was satisfied it was caused by Knox's "deteriorating mental health" rather than because of issues he had with gay or disabled people.
He imposed a 12-month community order with a rehabilitation requirement, and a 9pm to 6am curfew to run for the next 10 weeks.
He also told Knox to pay his victim £150 compensation for the attack, and issued a restraining order banning him from going to his victim's house.
