DRUG needles had to be removed from a children’s primary school.
On Tuesday morning, a parent of Hafod Y Wern Primary School told the Leader they had been informed by the school that needles had been found in the outside nursery area of the premises.
Nicole Harrod, of Minafon, said: “It’s disgusting, they’ve found needles there and closed off that part of the school.”
Cllr Michael Williams, lead member for children’s services and education for Wrexham Council, confirmed the discovery but said they had been removed from the premises and the school remained open.
He said: “Needles were discovered on the school site but were cleared away safely, and no children came into contact with them.
“The school has not closed and
they have confirmed they will remain open.”
Police were notified of the find by the school and the council was alerted and requested to clean up the area.
