Police warning after spate of motorcycle thefts in Llanelli
POLICE in Llanelli are urging motorcyclists to be vigilant after a series of bike thefts in the same area of the town.
Dyfed-Powys Police has launched an investigation into a spate of thefts of motorcycles from the Tyisha area of Llanelli.
Four bikes have been stolen in three days.
The police force has confirmed that some of the bikes have been recovered, but others remain missing.
The first incident happened between 9.30pm on Thursday, January 7 and midnight on Friday, January 8.
A shed was targeted, and an off-road motorcycle, a moped, and a mini moped were taken from the shed behind Tyisha Road.
The second incident happened between 11pm on Friday, January 8 and 3am on Saturday, January 9.
A black Honda motorcycle was taken without consent from outside a property on Langland Road.
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said: "The black Honda and the off-road bike have since been recovered. A moped and a mini moped are still missing."
The local neighbourhood policing team has been carrying out house to house enquiries to ask for information and to offer crime prevention advice and reassurance to neighbouring residents.
Police recommend that owners of bikes who are leaving them in outhouses and sheds, take precautions to make them safe, such as ensuring it is sufficiently locked, and also placing the shed somewhere in good view of the house.
The force also recommends that possessions be registered with Immobilise, an online database that can significantly increase the chances of the item's recovery after theft.
Anyone with information about these incidents is urged to contact police in Llanelli by calling 101.
