A MAN has admitted to damaging a police car, threatening behaviour and drug possession.
Nathan James Kendrick, 22, of Hurst Newton, Bersham, pleaded guilty to the three charges at Wrexham Magistrates Court yesterday.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, said Kendrick had been charged with possessing 4.85 grammes of amphetamine after a street transaction was witnessed by ambulance service staff in Wrexham town centre.
He said: “It was 11am on October 16 when an ambulance crew witnessed a transaction and called the police, stopping the defendant in Lord Street.
“He was searched and a bag of white powder was found, which turned out to be amphetamines.”
Mr Espie said Kendrick was arrested again last month for his part in an altercation, also in Wrexham town centre.
He added: “This time it was December 28, at 1.30am, the defendant was seen in an altercation with other males on High Street.
“He was seen making punches to the head area, with clenched fists, and then on Town Hill pushing a male to the ground.
“En route to custody he kicked out at the window of a police vehicle, damaging the door frame.”
Emma Simoes, defending, said father-of-two Kendrick was making every effort to turn his life around.
She said: “Unfortunately, he became embroiled in the drugs scene, but really has tried to engage with the relevant services.
“Since the possession incident, he has abstained from taking drugs and has stopped drinking too much.
“He realises he has put his liberty in jeopardy and knows he has to grow up.”
Addressing Kendrick, magistrate Albert Hughes said: “This is a wake-up call, the last-chance saloon.”
For the threatening behaviour, Kendrick was given a six-month community order, and a three-month curfew to remain at home between 9pm and 6am.
He was given a £20 fine for drug possession and was ordered to pay £113.50 in compensation to North Wales Police for the criminal damage.
Kendrick must also pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
