An inquest has been opened into the mysterious death of a man whose body was found in a remote spot in a North Wales forest.
The gruesome remains were found on November 14 in Clocaenog Forest near Pentrellyncymmer in Conwy and, after investigations by police and forensic experts, it was revealed that the man had suffered severe head injuries.
At the opening of an inquest in Ruthin, John Gittins, the coroner for North Wales East and Central, said that investigations were continuing to identify the victim and the time of his death.
He adjourned the hearing to a date to be fixed and said there was no point in setting a date at this stage.
North Wales Police have appealed for help in their enquiries. They say the victim was aged over 54 and was between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall.
Police say the body had been in the wood for a considerable period and the man's death is being treated as suspcious.
