THE headteacher of one of North Wales' leading private schools has resigned.

Patrick Lee-Browne had been the headteacher at Colwyn Bay's Rydal Penrhos school for the last seven years.

A statement published on the school's website says Mr Lee-Browne's resignation was accepted on December 31 and he will not be returning to work.

Ian Morris, chairman of governors at the school wrote: "The governors are pleased with Patrick’s achievements over the past seven and a half years.

“The development of the school in the period following the merger of Rydal and Penrhos is of credit to him and he can be rightly proud of his accomplishments.

“There are no disciplinary or safeguarding issues surrounding his resignation.

“The governors are grateful to Patrick for what he has achieved during his time at the school.

“We would like to thank him for his hard work and major contribution to the school during that time and wish him all the very best for the future.”

Until a permanent replacement has been found, the governors have appointed Roger McDuff as acting headteacher.
