POLICE have launched an investigation after what is described as a "large amount" of jewellery was taken during a burglary in Baglan. Another house was also broken into at around the same time, and officers are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.
The pair of burglaries come just come three weeks after another raid in the same area which saw £20,000-worth of jewellery stolen.
Detectives say they want to reassure the community that everything possible is being done to catch the people responsible for the incidents.
The first burglary happened in Tyn y Twr between 10am and 6pm on Saturday when a house was entered but no property was stolen.
The second break-in happened on nearby at Maes Ty Canol on the same weekend — the burglary was discovered at around 4pm on Sunday.
A large quantity of rings, necklaces and ear rings were stolen during the raid, and police have released photographs of the stolen items provided by the victims in the hope the items will be recognised.

South Wales Police detective constable Darren Isaac of Neath Port Talbot CID said: "An investigation into the burglaries is continuing and we would ask anyone with information about the stolen property or anyone who saw any suspicious activity in this area of Baglan over the weekend to contact police.
"We are aware that these two burglaries within the same area have caused some concern in the community and we are doing everything we can to catch those responsible."
The burglaries happened just week after another significant jewellery burglary — a house on Tyn y Twr was again the target.
In that break-in police believe the thieves forced entry through a rear door before stealing a significant amount of jewellery including rings, bracelets and necklaces, many of which had sentimental value to the victims.
