A 51-year-old man today faced charges of possessing thousands of obscene child and animal images and videos.
Carl James Mullally of Salisbury Street, Shotton, Deeside, faced a total of 18 charges at Wrexham magistrates' court today.
Charges included possessing 5,262 indecent images and 487 indecent movies of children.
Mullally was also accused of possessing 130 extreme pornographic movies and 486 images involving animals.
He also faced allegations of distributing and making indecent images of children and of making an indecent image of a baby aged about between 3-6 months.
During a short appearance at Wrexham Magistrates court lasting around five minutes Mullally, dressed in a green coat and jeans, stood to confirm his name, age and address.
The offences, alleged to have occurred over a 10-year period between December 2004 and December 2014, were deemed so serious they were sent to Mold Crown Court to be next heard on January 8.
Prosecuting, Rhian Jackson, said the charges were brought after a warrant was executed by police, computer equipment seized and a large amount of indecent material discovered.
Defending Mullally, Stephen Edwards said: “These matters should be dealt with in the crown court.”
No pleas were entered.
Mullally was bailed with the conditions he remains and sleeps at his flat on Salisbury Street and does not have any unsupervised contact with children.

The new offices will cost CCBC (i.e. the taxpayer) a lot to have built, but it won't own the building, but it'll be renting it from its "partner"!
