A group of people who are alleged to have helped themselves to Christmas decorations outside people’s homes have been caught on CCTV.
Upset children woke up on Monday to find the decorations they had put in their gardens, including a large ‘Santa Stop Here’ sign, had disappeared over night.
Due to recent incidents in the area around Harrison Drive in St Mellons, Cardiff , one neighbour had a CCTV camera fitted to the family home.
One family with two children under the age of four said they had only bought their Santa sign on Sunday and another household had a wreath taken from the front door.
'A lot of families have gone to town this year'
A resident said: “We all work very hard to get these decorations and the thought that someone goes into your garden to steal things, especially when you have children, is awful.
“There are a lot of families living in the area and everyone has gone to town this year with houses covered in lights and decorations.”
The images of three people wandering the streets at around 1.30am on Monday were shared on social media.
South Wales Police said they were notified at 9am on Monday and confirmed they are looking into the incident.
A spokesperson said: “Police in Cardiff are investigating the theft of Christmas decorations from a property on Spencer David Way in St Mellons.
“Anyone with any information concerning this theft is asked to call South Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 and quote 1500469240.”
