A Wrexham couple say their Christmas has been ruined after their car was “written-off” by a rogue driver who crashed into parked cars in the middle of the night before fleeing the scene.
Devastated residents on Talbot Street woke up this morning to find their cars smashed. Bonnets had been crumpled, leaving three of the vehicles unsafe to drive.
Jeremy Bromley, 31, told the Daily Post he and wife Ana have been left “distressed” by the hit and run, which happened overnight, and had been forced to cancel a trip to his parents’ home in Surrey for Christmas.
The couple are both nurses at the Countess of Chester Hospital and will now struggle to get to work.
Jeremy said: “My wife and I are so distressed by the fact that somebody could drive away without leaving any details, ruining Christmas for us.
“We need two cars to get to work as we both work separate shift so cannot share. It will stop me going to work until I can find a replacement car, which is something we just cannot afford right now. It is just the worst news to wake up to.”
'It’s just a nightmare. I’m now unable to pick up my granddaughter'
Neighbour Caroline Forrest also says her car is a write off, with damage including a “crumpled bonnet” and a “bust” radiator which is leaking coolant onto the road.
She said: “It’s just a nightmare. I’m now unable to pick up my granddaughter as it is not safe to drive it. It’s even worse as we’d only just paid £380 for a new clutch last week on it and we probably won’t get that back. I am gutted.”

Caroline has lived on the street for more than 20 years and says residents have spent years calling for the road to be made one-way, arguing it is “manic”.
She said: “There are now so many multi-occupancy houses that both sides of the road are jammed with cars. You often can’t park in front of your own house. “The street needs to be made one way. Recently my husband has lost five wing mirrors and I’ve lost six. It’s manic, we have hay wagons coming down and ambulances have even got stuck in jams.
“Something needs to be done desperately.”
Jeremy says he and his wife will now be left counting the cost financially.
“If we claim on our insurance our premium will go up massively as the problem is I have nobody to claim against – it is just not financially viable to go through insurance,” he said.
North Wales Police confirmed they received a call at 7.35am today regarding the damage.
A spokeswoman said: “Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident should contact PC3061 Karwacka at Wrexham on 101 quoting reference number S192516.”
