RESIDENTS were left furious after a driver smashed into their cars before fleeing the scene.
Three parked cars were shunted several feet in the collision before the vehicle left Talbot Road in the early hours of Friday.
Keith Evans, whose Skoda Fabia was one of the cars damaged, said: “I’m furious, but I’m also totally baffled by the fact they can just do it and go away.
“You lose wing mirrors as a matter of course on Talbot Road – you don’t expect it but you come to accept it – but this is just huge.
“It’s written off three cars. I just don’t understand it.”
Mr Evans, who bought his car two years ago with his retirement money from the civil service, had last week forked out £380 for a new clutch on the vehicle.
Jeremy Bromley, 31, told how his wife, Rute, 33, discovered the damaged cars as she went to leave for work as a nurse at the Countess of Chester Hospital at about 6.30am.
He said: “I woke this morning to a horrible sight. I woke to find my car completely trashed – basically it has been written off.”
Mr Bromley, also a nurse at the hospital, said he would have to buy a new car as claiming on his insurance would be more expensive.
Kaci Hatfield, 30, said she heard a bang at about 4.30am, but thought it sounded more like a wheelie bin had fallen over than a crash.
When Mr Bromley told her what had happened, she was faced with the sight of her beloved Renault Megane having been badly dented and with a rear tyre blown out.
“I’m disappointed and upset,” she said. “I love my car. It took me a long time to find a car that I actually like. It’s just horrible.”
All the cars, which were parked safely, were shunted several feet in the smash.
The neighbours believe the vehicle hit Miss Hatfield’s Renault and then Mr Bromley’s car, which was then propelled into Mr Evans’ Skoda.
Mr Bromley said the vehicle could have caused some of the damage when trying to manouvere away from the smash and drive off.
They believe the vehicle may have been trying to avoid another coming in the opposite direction before the crash happened.
The residents added making the street one-way would help avoid collisions and be safer for children walking to nearby schools.
Mr Bromley said it was dangerous for residents getting in and out of their vehicles with cars coming both ways.
Caroline Forrest, Mr Evans’ partner, said she had seen cars “shaving” the sides of parked cars to get past and the couple told of boy racers in the street, particularly at night.
Anyone with any information on the incident is urged to call North Wales Police on 101, quoting incident reference S192516.
