A MAN has appeared in court charged with an alleged Boxing Day stabbing that left a man in hospital with serious stomach injuries.
Ethiopian asylum seeker Bunyam Debesay entered no plea to a single charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent when he appeared in the dock at Swansea Magistrates Court today.
Speaking through an Amharic translator, 22-year-old Debesay, of Iowerth Street, Manselton, Swansea, spoke only to confirm his name and address during a brief hearing.
Justices were told that police had been called to reports of a disturbance involving a number of men on St Helen's Avenue at just after midnight on Boxing Day morning, where they found a man lying on the floor with stomach wounds.
