This poor dog had to be put down after he was found tied to a bin with a heavy chain in Newport with his eyes closed due to thick green pus.
The dog, a four-year-old springer spaniel, was found in a collapsed and weak state on Wednesday, December 23, at Hartridge Farm Road.
Unable to stand and extremely emaciated he was rushed to a vets but later had to be put to sleep.
The dog is believed to be from the Rhondda Cynon Taf area but RSPCA officers are still trying to track his owners.
RSPCA inspector Selina Chan said: “This poor dog was emaciated and his eyes were closed due to thick green pus. He was unable to stand due to his poor health.
“Sadly on veterinary advice the dog was put to sleep. He was microchipped but the details were out of date so we are unable to track down his owner.
“We believe him to be from the Rhondda Cynon Taf area.
“We’re appealing for information to try and find out who this dog belongs to.
“Anyone with information about this dog should contact the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018. Calls are treated in confidence.”
