A man has appeared in court charged with firearms offences following an incident inWrexham on Wednesday.
Matthew McKenzie, 26, of Coed Aben, Wrexham, appeared before magistrates in the town today after police were involved in a stand-off in Caia Park this week.
McKenzie was charged with possessing a loaded firearm on December 16, and with possessing a firearm while out of prison on licence.
The case was sent to Mold Crown Court to be heard next on January 8.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Harrison at Wrexham Police Station said: “Matthew McKenzie, a 26-year-old local man, has been charged with firearms-related offences following the incident in Wrexham on Wednesday, December 16.
“The investigation into the incident, which caused considerable disruption to the community of Caia Park, continues and I would appeal to anyone that may have information that will assist with the investigation to contact North Wales Police .
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed events to contact police on 101 or anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and quote reference S191601.”
