A Holyhead man has been charged with robbery after an elderly woman was attacked and mugged more than a week ago.
The man, 29, is accused of assaulting 72-year-old May Owen on December 10 on Kingsland Road in Holyhead.
In the attack Ms Owen was pushed to the ground, suffering cuts and bruises, and had her purse stolen.
The 29-year-old man will appear before Magistrates at Caernarfon on Saturday morning charged with robbery.
He has been remanded in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Iestyn Davies said: “This evening we have charged a 29-year-old Holyhead man with robbery.
“He has been remanded in Police custody to appear at Caernarfon Magistrates Court tomorrow.
“I am grateful to the assistance provided by the community of Holyhead during the last week which helped us in making significant progress resulting in this charge.”
Fundraising appeal
DCI Iestyn Davies added: “Despite a man having been charged in connection with this robbery I would still like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, particularly anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Police on 101.”
It is understood that after the attack, the man made good his escape by running into Arthur Street East and up a lane which leads to Clifton Terrace.
He then ran across Kingsland Road into an alleyway that leads into the general direction of Porthdafarch Road and the Tan yr Efail and Tresiefion estates.
Touched by the traumatic ordeal of May Owen, Denise Owen - who is no relation - set up a crowd-funding page to help reimburse the 72-year-old , from Holyhead.
With an initial target of £250, the total is now £1,165 after a week of fundraising online .
Denise hopes to present Ms Owen with the money next week.
