A driver who crashed and killed a teenage girl after seven friends got into a stolen van has been warned he is facing a substantial jail sentence.
Kyle Perkins, 25, had seven passengers inside the red LDV Maxus van as it raced through the narrow streets.
It crashed in Bryn Terrace, Aberdare - leaving Sammy Jo Davies, 19, dead at the scene on August 3.
Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court heard on Tuesday six others were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Guilty pleas
Perkins, from Cwmaman, near Aberdare, appeared at court where he kept his head down as he sobbed uncontrollably.
Both his and his victim’s families had to be kept at opposite ends of the courtroom and flanked by police officers after angry confrontations.
Perkins confirmed his name and pleaded guilty to three charges - with each plea prompting sobbing from the public gallery.
He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing death by dangerous driving, and aggravated vehicle taking, along with admitting driving without insurance.
Judge Richard Twomlow told him he was adjourning sentencing him until January so a report could be prepared.
He warned Perkins: “It will be a considerable and substantial sentence.”

Following Sammy Jo Davies' death, hundreds of comments were posted to social media expressing their shock and to pay tribute to a “beautiful, lovely” girl.
In response to a post by the South Wales Police Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf page, emotional tributes were issued by loved ones.
