THE licence of a Llandudno Irish bar has been changed after police raised “serious concerns” over its management.
North Wales Police applied for a review of the licence of Cooneys Irish Bar, in Mostyn Street, after raising concerns about drunk people not being challenged at the door and the behavior of management and staff - including an incident in which a DJ allegedly played the Peppa Pig theme tune and made pig noises during a police visit to the bar.
After a Conwy County Borough Council licensing sub-committee meeting on December 9, the license now stipulates regular training for staff with regard to dealing with drunkenness, till prompts and no member of staff, management or any person employed at the premises will drink alcohol while on duty at the premises, among other conditions.
Inspector Emma Naughton also requested that licensed activities be permitted up until the earlier time of 11pm Monday to Sunday, but there were no changes to current operating hours.
The sub-committee also considered that a formal warning regarding the previous breaches of the premises licence was appropriate under the circumstances.
Cooneys Irish Bar was approached for a comment.
